October Partner Agency Spotlight

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and we are proud to partner with OneEighty. Orrville Area United Way supports grants for two OneEighty programs – Addiction Services and the Emergency Shelter also known as Julia’s Place. These programs contribute to our impact areas of Promoting Health and Wellness and Helping in Hard Times. The mission of One Eighty is “helping people change direction”.

OneEighty is the only local nonprofit providing intensive outpatient programs, residential treatment programs, recovery coaching, and medication assisted treatment. Substance use disorders affect people in all walks of life, from all geographic areas. The rise of fentanyl and methamphetamine have caused significant community problems, and alcohol continues to be the most abused substance.

OneEighty is also the only local agency providing safe shelter for victims of domestic/intimate partner violence and their children. Without this service, our community would likely see an increase in dangerous domestic situations, as victims wouldn’t have access to a safe shelter without leaving the county. Julia’s Place residents receive a variety of supportive services to assist them with their recovery from abuse and their attainment of self-sufficiency with their long-term and short-term safety in mind. A needs assessment reviews housing, transportation, medical and mental health, legal, childcare, and employment. Case Managers work closely with clients to assist with planning and strategizing how to procure housing, employment, and health care. Onsite counseling is offered if a client has a mental health or substance abuse diagnosis. And victim advocates assist with legal needs.

We are grateful to support OneEighty with your generous Orrville Area United Way donations! These compassionate programs help provide individuals and families emergency assistance to overcome barriers during a time of hardship and achieve emotional, social, physical, and mental well-being through accessible services.
