It’s been a big month for our Sweet Dreams program—and we’re so grateful for the community spirit that continues to surround and strengthen this work.

Thanks to an incredible mattress donation and a seamless team effort, our bed supply has been fully restocked—and put to use quickly! In just the first few months of 2025, 24 complete beds have already been delivered to children in our service area—just 10 shy of our total for all of last year. And we’re just getting started.

This wave of support has come from every direction:

  • Northeast Ohio Salvation Army (NEOSA) facilitated a generous mattress donation that brought 50 twin mattresses into our community.
  • Jarrett generously provided not just a box truck, but a full semi-truck to transport the donated mattresses.
  • The Orrville High School baseball team showed up in full force to unload 50 mattresses in record time—just eight minutes!
  • Meijer stepped in with a gift card donation to help us purchase bedding supplies.
  • Gerber Lumber & Hardware has become a new partner, providing cost-saving build materials and delivering them right where they’re needed.
  • And the dedicated volunteer crew from Christ United Church of Christ and Trinity United Methodist Church made sure we were ready with a bed build just in time to meet demand from our waitlist.

Each of these efforts—whether from a business, a church, a student athlete, or a thoughtful donor—has added up to something bigger: local kids sleeping in safe, comfortable beds of their own.

Sweet Dreams provides children ages 2–18 with a complete bed set—frame, mattress, sheets, blanket, and pillow. It is available to families in Dalton, Kidron, Marshallville, North Lawrence, and Orrville whose household incomes are up to 250% of the federal poverty level.

If you or someone you know needs a bed for a child, please contact The Salvation Army Orrville-Maiwurm Service Center at 330-683-3138.

We’re so proud of the partnerships that make this work possible—and so thankful for the hearts behind every helping hand. Together, we’re making a meaningful difference!
